The Indian education system is one of the oldest education systems. We found traces of education in the Indus valley civilization, which is the world's most ancient civilization. We found certain measuring tools here, so assumed there must be education. After this, the Vedic period comes, where Sanskrit and the study of Vedas were taught to people. After this, the maha janapad period came, where the World-class universities were established like Takshila and Nalanda around the 6th century BC. In 7th BC Banaras became one of the most important centers of education in eastern India.
In the medieval history of India, many dynasties emerged like palas, Sena's promoted learning arts and literature. Till the Britishers came to India, it had the world's best education system but they realized if they want to rule India, they had to destroy the Indian education system. They started changing the roots of the education system. In 1813 the first charter act came into existence. In 1835 lord Macaulay's minute came into existence where education would be given in English. This lead to destroying the importance of Hindi. Indian people considered English not as a language but as a skill. In India, If a person doesn't know anything but English he would be considered as most intelligent ( this shows the victory of Britishers over Indian people). Now, this is high time we have to go back to our roots and realize the importance of the hour education system where learning is on the basis of practical education not on a theoretical basis.
We have to re-establish our education system to make our
children leaders, not followers. earlier Indian people have the mentality of
doing their own business and this was the time when India has the world's
largest economy. they did not believe in doing jobs. but Britishers changed their
thinking by giving them jobs. Indian people take this as a prestigious of
serving them. now we have to change this mentality of doing jobs and be
entrepreneurs. Education should make
students attached to society.
